The Auckland Council Geospatial team is passionate about transforming Auckland through the power of location intelligence and to this end operates an enterprise GIS that supports a number of exceptional products and solutions for Auckland Council and its customers. The Geospatial team aims to deliver a comprehensive, innovative and insightful capability that brings together location-based data, technology and techniques so our interesting range of customers can unlock value, solve complex problems, make better decisions and share, inform and collaborate with their stakeholders. 

There is an excellent opportunity to join the Geospatial team in a new role that brings together customer needs with our industry-leading technology. You will engage with our interesting range of customers, understanding and detailing their requirements providing exceptional customer service and high-quality consultancy. You will be a champion for geospatial technologies, data and techniques and lead a collaborative effort to raise projects and streamline a huge range of service requests that our team delivers.


You will have visibility of work across a wide customer base within a large and diverse organisation and lead the triage and direction of customer requests. You will work strongly in business case stages of projects and alongside other Geospatial team members, our customers and our partners across the wider ICT department, to generate options for solutions for large and complex problems.


He kōrero mōu: About you


You will be an energetic and passionate GIS professional with at least 5 years’ experience in the GIS / IT industry with at least 2 years’ experience as a business analyst. You will have an excellent track record of delivering consultancy and business analysis to a range of customers as well as demonstrably strong relationship building and facilitation skills. Ideally, you will have used or been familiar with agile methodologies to plan and execute work.


You will understand geospatial concepts, data and services and have exposure to ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS Online and Safe (FME) Software technologies.  You should have excellent verbal and written communication skills and have a constant improvement mindset.


You should have a tertiary qualification (bachelor’s degree minimum), preferably in Computer Science, Geographic Information Systems, Business Management, or have other relevant certifications or business experience

Working 40 hours per week Monday to Friday; you will have flexibility with how those hours are set. Some of our people begin early, some stay later, and remote working is an option too.
