Tāmaki Makaurau is New Zealand's largest, fastest growing and most culturally diverse city. Due to its location and particular characteristics, the city has many enviable natural features from the golden sands of the east coast to the rainforests and black volcanic sands of the west. These same characteristics also make the region susceptible to a number of hazards ranging from infrequent events such as volcanic eruptions and tsunami, to more regular events such as flooding, storms, and the effects of climate change.
