He angitūtanga: The opportunity
Our finance team is now in the market for a Senior Commercial Accountant — a key position responsible for delivering high-quality financial analysis, modelling, and insights to guide strategic and commercial decisions across the organisation. You’ll build and maintain dynamic financial models, interpret data from tools like Power BI, and provide actionable advice that supports business cases, investment appraisals, and long-term planning. Acting as a trusted advisor, you’ll collaborate with leaders and teams to align financial recommendations with organisational goals, while driving continuous improvement in systems, processes, and data-driven decision-making.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the review and optimisation of finance processes, driving automation, standardisation, and efficiency improvements.
- Provide commercial and analytical support to identify and grow non-rates revenue opportunities across the organisation.
- Partner with stakeholders to enhance the finance user experience, ensuring consistent practices and alignment with strategic objectives.
- Monitor project financials and deliver insightful reporting to support business planning and performance.
- Contribute to key projects and change initiatives, applying sound project management and stakeholder engagement to achieve results.

We’re looking for someone who combines strong analytical ability with commercial acumen and a collaborative mindset. You’ll be confident working with complex financial data, turning insights into clear, actionable recommendations that influence decision-making. With advanced modelling skills, attention to detail, and a strategic approach, you’ll thrive in ambiguity and help drive clarity across financial processes. You’ll be an excellent communicator who can engage diverse stakeholders, balance priorities in a fast-paced environment, and bring a continuous improvement lens to everything you do. A team player at heart, you’ll model accountability, initiative, and a customer-focused approach in every interaction.
Key requirements:
- A tertiary qualification in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field (CA/CIMA/CPA/CFA preferred).
- 3–5 years’ experience in a Financial or Commercial Analyst or Business Partner role within a complex organisation.
- Proven experience in budgeting, forecasting, process improvement, and change delivery.
- Advanced Excel skills and exposure to Power BI or similar financial analysis tools.

Salary range between $125K - $130K per annum
