The Parks & Community Facilities Department is committed to making great places Aucklanders love while supporting a number of related services such as Asset Management and renewals of existing buildings and structures. We’re committed to a best practice Asset Management lifecycle approach to build, maintain and renew our community buildings and public spaces including parks, community centres, libraries and leisure centres. As kaitiaki (guardian) of Auckland Council facilities, we play a vital role in promoting the safety and wellbeing of our communities while also delivering strategically significant programmes. 

We have an opportunity which will see you operating in a senior building surveyor/asset assessor capacity and allow you to contribute to strengthening our ability to deliver the best city we can. You’ll be part of a technical team that works across the Auckland Region, assessing the condition, risk and resilience of buildings and structures. Your analysis and recommendations will inform our maintenance and renewal programmes.

You’ll make decisions 'on the spot' about construction, structural and civil engineering matters. This might include recommending response and remedial action for any built assets that are less effective or require further attention. You’ll be conducting impartial and objective analysis and reporting on community facilities buildings and structures which will help to determine technical performance, condition, compliance, efficiency and useful service life expectancy. 

He kōrero mōu: About you

As the preferred candidate for this role, you’ll be qualified in building surveying and/or structural or civil engineering along with experience in assessing infrastructure and building assets. Together with asset management experience, you’ll have proficiency in information systems relating to GIS and asset data collection.
