Senior Biosecurity Advisor Pest Plants

He angitūtanga: The opportunity

It’s an exciting time for our Environmental Services department as we invest in a new suite of programmes ranging from pest control in parks, to marine biosecurity, to increasing community-led conservation action. 


We’re looking for an experienced technical pest plant expert to develop and manage biosecurity projects that achieve the effective implementation of the Natural Environment Targeted Rate and the Regional Pest Management Plan (RPMP), to minimise the adverse impacts of pest plants across the region.  You’ll use your strategic and analytical skills to design and deliver pest plant focussed control at a landscape level and write technical and management reports and assessments. 

 

He kōrero mōu: About you

You’re a technical pest plant expert that’s able to develop and manage projects specialising in effective and efficient control of pest plant species, sometimes to an eradication level with the ability to innovate, investigate, trial and develop control methodologies. A resilient natural collaborator with strong project and/or contract management experience, we will value your strong relationship building skills as you will be working with the wider council family, iwi and landowners to achieve shared outcomes. 

 

You’ll have a qualification in a related discipline and/or equivalent work experience and extensive experience in ecosystem management.
