He angitūtanga: The opportunity
Auckland Council’s Auckland Urban Development Office within the Resilience and Infrastructure Division has an opportunity for a Senior Advisor PfMO to join the Growth and Regeneration Delivery team.
This is a critical role for the Council and will focus on promoting project management methods and standards across Auckland Council, supporting teams to deliver high-quality projects and continuously improving portfolio management practices.
Please note:
- This is a Fixed Term opportunity – ending February 2027
- This is a hybrid position
You could expect to work on:
- Supporting the business to apply best-practice project management standards and frameworks
- Providing expert advice and quality assurance for key project artefacts and deliverables
- Coaching and guiding project managers and coordinators to improve delivery outcomes
- Developing and enhancing tools, templates, and processes to strengthen PfMO capability
- Contributing to a culture of continuous improvement, collaboration, and excellence

He kōrero mōu: About you
This role requires experience in the project management and portfolio governance space. You will have experience in similar roles within large, complex, and potentially political organisations.
We are looking for someone with:
- Proven experience in developing and implementing project management frameworks and tools
- Strong communication and influencing skills, with the ability to lead change and uplift capability
- Experience in planning and performance management within local or central government
- A relevant tertiary qualification (finance, management, economics, business, or similar)
- Formal project management training (e.g. PRINCE2 Practitioner, MSP Practitioner)
