Senior Advisor - Human Centered Design

Our newly formed directorate, Group Services purpose is to help create an Auckland we can all be proud of. Our voterision is to ensure our customers love us for the difference we can make, and our people feel excited, proud and energised. This role sits within the Corporate Strategy & Business Improvement department within Group Services.

Reporting into the Head of Business Improvement & Enterprise Change, you will be  provide Human-Centred Design  support and thought-leadership on business improvement initiatives , create learning material and resources,  and provide coaching support in HCD to embedded resources across council business units to grow human centred design capability across council.

This role will also support the development, implementation and analysis of Human Centred Design measurement frameworks.  

He kōrero mōu: About you


Tertiary qualified, Management, Operations Management, Human Sciences or a related discipline, you will bring at least 7 years’ work experience in innovation, transformation and business improvement. 


With proven experience in in programme delivery, you will bring a strong knowledge of and at least 6 to 8 years of work experience with applying and implementing human-centred design (HCD) methodologies. You will also have formal qualifications or accreditation in Lean, Six Sigma or Kaizen.

You will have excellent interpersonal and collaboration skills and you will take ownership of delivery outcomes. With a flexible, entrepreneurial mindset and passion for lean experimentation degree you will be strong relationship builder and influencer.


You participate in initiatives to embed te ao Māori into the way we do things. You are willing to develop and build your own understanding and capability to contribute to the delivery of the directorate’s Māori outcomes and wider organisation’s vision to be responsive to the needs and aspirations  of  Māori  as outlined in the Māori Outcomes Performance Measurement Framework –Kia ora Tāmaki Makaurau.
