He angitūtanga: The opportunity

 

Auckland Council’s Financial Strategy and Modelling team has an opportunity for a Senior Advisor Financial Strategy. In this significant role for the council you won’t just analyse data, you’ll help shape multi-billion dollar investment plans for the largest local government organisation in Oceana. Your work on supporting long-term investment decisions with high-quality financial analysis and strategic advice will directly impact the lives of future Aucklanders.

 

You can expect to work on:

· Assessing the affordability of major projects and investment proposals

· Providing funding and financing advice for key council initiatives

· Developing insights from complex modelling to support executive and elected decision-making

· Preparing high-quality reports for senior leaders and external stakeholders

· Helping align planning decisions with projected rates, debt levels, and the council’s financial strategy

 

It is an exciting and influential role that will directly inform Auckland’s long-term plans.

 

 

He kōrero mōu: About you

 

This role requires experience in the financial strategy, corporate finance, or financial advisory space. You will bring experience from similar roles within large, complex, and potentially political organisations.

 

We will be looking for specific experience with the key role requirements:

· Strong capability translating technical financial analysis into meaningful insights

· Experience advising senior leaders or elected officials

· Advanced financial modelling, affordability analysis and reporting

· Experience working in large organisations with complex funding structures

· Understanding of Auckland’s local government environment
