He angitūtanga: The opportunity
Auckland Council’s Governance & Engagement department has an opportunity for a Senior Advisor to join the Councillor Support team for 12 months. This role will report directly to the Team Leader and be based in the Auckland city centre with the opportunity to work flexibly.
This role contributes to supporting our councillors – with key areas of responsibility including providing essential support, advice, and connections to our councillors, enabling them to operate efficiently, provide leadership, and engage with the people of Tāmaki Makaurau.
Within your role you’ll maintain impartiality, while having a sharp understanding of working within a political environment.
You can be expected to work directly with councillors and senior staff on:
- Provision of robust advice, supporting policy matters for the Auckland region
- Maintaining stakeholder management and relationship building on behalf of the councillors
- Timely governance process and administrative support
- General communication support, including correspondence management and the preparation of speeches
He kōrero mōu: About you
Passionate about Auckland, you’ll be politically savvy with the ability to process complex information and provide focussed unbiased advice and guidance to members of the Governing Body.
You’ll likely have experience in complex and political environments and/or a policy background or in a role providing advice.
Resilience and the ability to manage high-pressure situations will come with you along with strong stakeholder management.
