He angitūtanga: The opportunity
We have an exciting, fixed term opportunity until December 2026 for a Senior Advisor to drive the development of Auckland Council’s 21 local board plans.
You will work with Auckland’s local boards to provide senior-level project management expertise to coordinate delivery of the local board plans. Working with subject matter experts, workstream leads and local board advisors, you will also provide strategic advice on the broad array of issues impacting local communities. These strategic plans guide funding and investment decisions for the next three years, and set the direction for each local area by reflecting community priorities and preferences.
A key aspect of the role will include project leadership and managing a wide range of relationships across the organisation to ensure that the local boards receive the right level of advice and support.
He kōrero mōu: About you
With a background in local or central government or experience in a similar role in a banking, consultancy, or legal environment, you have the demonstrated ability to give sound policy and strategic advice.
Given the political environment you will be working in and the range of stakeholders you will be engaging with, you need to have excellent relationship management skills, be politically astute, exercise sound judgement and demonstrate strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical evaluation skills.
Excellent project management, issues management and communication skills will help you work effectively and remain calm under pressure when faced with multiple priorities.
