Auckland Council is on a continued and significant transformation journey and as a result, has grown to become one of the largest Information Communications and Technology Services (ICT) capabilities in New Zealand. This presents a unique opportunity for an experienced ICT professional to come and join us in this exciting complex and energized environment in a permanent role.


As the Scrum Master, you will support teams in their Scrum-based practices and events. This role works to assist teams to identify and remove their impediments, collaborate across silos, and find better ways to visualise, communicate and deliver their work. Given the size and type of the organisation, it will also be vital that this role helps support and grow the agile & scrum practice, teach new techniques, and offer insights to challenge existing practices. 


He kōrero mōu: About you


It is essential that you have at least 5+ years’ Scrum Master experience. A qualification in Agile, Scrum-based delivery (preferable SAFe) will contribute to the growth in the role.

You will work closely with Product Owners/Managers and ensure the Product Owner knows how to arrange the Product Backlog to maximise value and assist with the prioritisation of value delivery. This said, having solid skills in Agile practices, combined with your ability to coach individuals and interact over processes and tools are essential components of your role. Your interpersonal and relationship management skills will be put to great use.

This role will also assist in adapting to a changing and fast-paced environment, evolving the change solution ensuring delivery of flexibility and agility. You are adept at refinement, story splitting, estimation, velocity and retrospectives.
