He angitūtanga: The opportunity


The purpose of the role is to strengthen the disaster resilience of communities disproportionately impacted by hazards through proactive and collaborative engagement with relevant stakeholders and community groups, delivery of programmes and projects and assist in emergency responses on an important function desk.

He kōrero mōu: About you


The key skills we are looking for in a suitable applicant is someone who has proven delivery of innovative, strategic and practical programmes of work in collaboration with communities. You will have experience in partnering and managing relationships with elected local officials, community organisations, government agencies and stakeholder groups. This will enable you to support communities before, during and after an emergency.


We are also looking for relevant knowledge and experience of community development practice in order to compile and deliver best practice community engagement and development approaches that ensure the best outcomes for Tamaki Makaurau’s communities, especially those who are disproportionately impacted by hazards.


You will have project management skills, familiarity with the 4Rs, political acumen and be familiar with local board processes. If you have excellent communication skills especially under pressure, well developed networks, proficient in facilitating meetings and community workshops, and accord value to te Ao Māori and te Tiriti o Waitangi, this could be a role for you.
