He angitūtanga: The opportunity

Local Boards play a significant role across communities with their focus on arts and culture, community services, parks and recreation, economic development, the environment, infrastructure and place shaping activities.

 

This position is accountable for the provision of dedicated PA and office management support to the Aotea/Great Barrier Local Board members as well as to the Relationship Manager. The responsibilities include supporting the local board members, with particular support to the local board Chair, in day-to-day business, with a focus on management of all aspects of the local board office including travel and accommodation and management of elected member issues.

 

The role requires a good understanding of the Aotea/Great Barrier Local Board's priorities and work programme, which covers all activities of Auckland Council, provides key support to the Relationship Manager by providing effective diary and email management, meeting coordination and support across a range of human resources requirements, processes and reporting for the team and provides admin support for local board led community engagement activities, including annual plan submissions and hearing processes and managing all logistics associated with the local board Office is another responsibility.

 

While the role is located at the council’s Albert Street offices, it will be expected from the staff member to occasionally travel to Aotea/Great Barrier Island when required.

 

He kōrero mōu: About you

A tertiary qualification would be preferred and you will ideally have significant experience in an administration support, office management personal assistant or similar role, preferably within the public sector, and able to demonstrate your political acumen as well as experience in interacting and building relationships with a wide range of people, including with elected members, senior managers and members of the public, experience with ERP systems (such as SAP) and customer relationship management (CRM) systems, intermediate level experience with standard Microsoft Office programmes and experience with local government meeting and democratic processes and relevant meeting management software would be an advantage.
