Auckland Council’s Building Consent team is seeking a Regulatory Support Officer for their team based in Auckland central. The role will report directly to the Team Leader.
You will have the opportunity to use your solid organisational and administrative skills to provide process support, ensuring the smooth running of our end-to-end consenting processes for our building consent department. This is a customer-focused role that will allow you to be part of our hardworking and supportive team environment. You’ll also be involved in the important behind-the-scenes work that ensures data integrity, accuracy, and consistent delivery of high-quality service.

Day-to-day you could expect to work on:
- Providing end-to-end support for all consenting applications in the department for Building Consents, ensuring processes run smoothly.
- Ensuring the accuracy and consistency of system data, including data analysis, data cleaning, and reporting.
- Managing the auditing and review of Building Consent applications, ensuring compliance with statutory timeframes and delivery standards.
- Ensuring requests for information are managed effectively and deadlines are met.
- Applying a process-driven approach to identify and resolve discrepancies in the system, ensuring data integrity.
- Demonstrating an inquisitive mindset, you will know what to look for and when to seek out information to ensure thorough completion of tasks.

He kōrero mōu: About you
To be successful in this role you will be system savvy, able to easily adapt to new technology, and have previous experience in administration. Your excellent communication skills will help you excel in this customer-focused role. A proactive nature along with your great attention to detail and understanding of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, etc) will strengthen your application. Having a good understanding of building legislation and previous SAP experience would make your application stand out.
What we will be looking for:
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- At least 4 years of experience in business administration and customer service roles.
- A strong process-driven approach with a commitment to seeing tasks through to completion.
- Confidence in working with complex databases and managing detailed information.
- A proactive problem solver, able to adapt quickly to change and contribute to ongoing process and system improvements.
- Experience in managing financial account reconciliations and resolving customer disputes.
