He angitūtanga: The opportunity 
We are seeking a passionate and experienced person to join the Qualified  Partner programme in the  Building Consents department within the Regulatory Services directorate at Auckland Council.

The Building Consents department ensures safe sustainable buildings for Aucklanders and makes it easier to build compliant developments in the Auckland region. The department ensures there is a strong focus on customer-centric delivery and provides first-rate business services.

Reporting to the Manager Premium Service, you will be responsible for the development and management of new and existing Qualified Partners, through key account management practices. You will ultimately be responsible for championing the Qualified Partner service, working with clients to ensure they maintain compliance in relation to their building consent applications whilst measuring their application performance and driving an organisational-wide approach to Qualified Partners.

 On a daily basis, you will:

•    Demonstrate key account management skills and practices to maintain both existing and new Qualified Partners
•    Educate and assist Qualified Partners and clients to ensure awareness of the building consents application process
•    Maintain database and key contacts

 We require someone with outstanding interpersonal and proven account management skills, as building and maintaining effective relationships is critical to your success in this role. This role would suit someone who is a confident communicator, who can build trust with a variety of internal and external stakeholders. You will be able to demonstrate substantial knowledge of regulatory services.

The successful candidate will have:

•    Relevant tertiary qualification in construction or a related discipline, design, engineering, is preferred
•    Extensive experience in building regulatory-related environment, customer interaction, and/or negotiation
•    Superior communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to multitask
•    Demonstrable ability in working collaboratively to achieve results in a high-pressure environment
•    Sound understanding and appreciation of the workings and functions of local government, including current and future business drivers and statutory requirements
