He angitūtanga: The opportunity

The Safety Collective Tāmaki Makaurau, hosted by Auckland Council, is accredited by the Pan-Pacific Safe Communities Foundation as an international Safe Community. Since July 2019 Auckland Council has been supporting the Collective to undertake their vision of enabling a Safe and Thriving Tāmaki Makaurau - Auckland. 


Working with the Senior Advisor and collaboratively across council, central government agencies and community organisations, you’ll have a key role in supporting the communications and delivery of the project support activities that help realise the vision. This links in with the Council’s overall safety programme to help provide a strategic and coherent response to both regional and local community safety and injury prevention issues


Among others, your day-to-day duties will be to:
•    Support the planning and delivery of Safety Collective priorities, contributing to developing a long-term approach to communication, resource development, online access, and reporting. 
•    Take the lead role communicating and coordinating the delivery of project support activities of the Safety Collective 
•    Work collaboratively across council, central government agencies and not-for-profit organisations, and communities to deliver on the benefits 


He kōrero mōu: About you
You will have 5+ years’ work experience, preferably in a government organisation or public health environment with a communications and project support focus. Bringing with you your excellent written and verbal communication skills, with an ability to translate complex information into clear, accessible language for a broad audience.
You understand the importance of relationships with Māori in Tāmaki Makaurau and are committed to the recognition of te ao Māori in your role. Ideally you can pronounce and use basic te reo Māori in emails, meetings and conversations.  


We are looking for someone who can demonstrate:
•    Well-developed stakeholder engagement skills and an ability to build rapport with a wide range of people.
•    Strong project coordination/time management skills with the ability to deliver to agreed outcomes.
•    Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work well in a small team, taking initiative with confidence.
•    Working collaboratively to drive successful delivery across team
•    Experience and confidence in using online web CMS systems such as Squarespace or WordPress; Microsoft Office applications; social media applications.

This is a fixed term, part-time opportunity till 30th June 2022, working 24 hours across 3 days a week with flexibility available based on the needs of the project.
