Project Manager - Financial Strategy & Planning

Auckland Council’s Financial Strategy and Planning team has an opportunity for a Project Manager to join them, in a fixed term position to February 2023. This role is one of three awesome project managers who collectively support the delivery of the Annual Budget, Annual Report, Quarterly Reporting, and other interesting projects.

 

You’ll manage workstreams that support the overall financial planning programme in Auckland Council. As Project Manager you will plan, execute and finalise processes that support the development and production of financial planning and reporting. There is also a specific focus on ensuring administrative organisation and particularly document production. You'll also be influential in connecting people from across the council group to work collaboratively to deliver these critical planning and reporting processes.

 

Day-to-day you could expect to work on:

  • Ensuring workstreams are tracking to key milestones
  • Providing detailed status reports for each workstream
  • Focusing on public documents being written in plain and easily digestible language
  • Managing potential resourcing issues
  • Working with a continuous improvement mindset

This role requires experience in similar Project Management roles, with a sound understanding of project management tools. You’ll understand the importance of relationship building and maintaining strong working relationships. If you're great at getting things moving and don't mind giving people a poke to get things delivered on time, this might be the right role for you.

 

We will be looking for specific experience with:

  • Coaching others for capability uplift
  • Implementing continuous improvement successfully
  • Working with the customer in mind as your key stakeholder
  • Managing stakeholder relationships to achieve best outcomes

 

Experience with professional document writing will be a distinct advantage.
