We have an exciting opportunity for a Project Lead to join the Group Shared Services (GSS) team within the Programme Services Directorate. In this pivotal role, you’ll help shape and implement future-focused operating models across key GSS functions. Working alongside General Managers and senior stakeholders, you’ll lead the development of business cases, drive continuous improvement, and ensure our service delivery continues to meet the evolving needs of Aucklanders.
Some day to day work you’ll be involved in includes:
- Lead the planning and execution of implementation roadmaps and business cases.
- Coordinate cross-functional teams and apply design thinking to refine operating models.
- Deliver high-quality project documentation, reporting, and stakeholder communications.
- Facilitate workshops, forums, and engagement plans to support project outcomes.
- Collaborate with analysts, advisors, and change managers to ensure effective delivery.

You’re someone who knows what it takes to deliver meaningful change, particularly within large-scale transformation programmes. You’ll thrive in a fast-paced and complex environment, able to juggle multiple priorities, influence a diverse range of stakeholders, and bring people together around a shared vision of the future. Resilient, focused, and outcomes-driven—you’re not afraid to roll up your sleeves and get things done.
We are looking for candidates with:
- Principal-level experience delivering large-scale transformation and complex change initiatives
- A strong background in business analysis within shared services or enterprise environments
- Excellent stakeholder engagement skills, particularly at executive and cross-functional levels
- Proficiency with process mapping tools such as Visio or Lucidchart, and the Microsoft Office Suite
- A tertiary qualification in business, finance, information systems, or a related field
This role isn’t for the faint-hearted. We’re looking for someone with grit and determination—someone who can confidently lead change, apply design thinking, and support ongoing improvement through the full project lifecycle. Initially, this role will support the GMs of GSS Procurement and Corporate Support Services, with the flexibility to evolve as programme needs grow.
