Our City Centres Programme team has an opportunity for a Capital Works Project Manager to join them, delivering programme workstreams ensuring industry best practice is applied to city centre capital works. You’ll get to work on exciting projects such as Wai Horotiu Queen Street and Te Hā Noa Victoria Street linear park, as we transform midtown to create a vibrant and prosperous precinct.

You can expect your responsibilities to cover some of the following:

  • Appoint, lead and manage teams to deliver project and programme outcomes ensuring KPIs are met
  • Ensure effective programme change controls are established and applied
  • Contribute to the development of contractual agreements between council and CCOs, as well as private developers to deliver defined packages
  • Provide status reporting to the city centre governance groups, political committees, and internal and external stakeholders
  • Collation and input of geo-mapping for the city centre work programmes


He kōrero mōu: About you


This role requires 7 years’ experience in similar roles, with a sound understanding of the delivery and implementation of large-scale infrastructure projects. 


We will be looking for specific experience with:

  • Aiming for best practice and achieving customer-centric outcomes
  • Influencing and driving results with stakeholders
  • Strong health & safety and financial management acumen across end-to-end project management functions, from strategic planning to delivery and operation.

You’ll also need to be willing to develop and build your own confidence and capability to contribute to the department’s Māori Responsiveness Plan and wider organisation’s vision to be a Treaty Responsive organisation.
