He angitūtanga: The opportunity


We have a great opportunity for you to join our Governance Capability team. The team supports staff and elected members to build governance capability and give effect to Auckland Council’s unique governance model. We work in partnership with people from across the Governance Division and the wider council group.


The purpose of this role is to lead the learning, development, implementation and on-going review of the elected members development programme (Kura Kawana) with the expectation that the programme will be well-planned, logical meaningful and grounded in a clear strategic learning approach.


This role plays a crucial role in the development and delivery of the induction programme for elected members following an election.

He kōrero mōu: About you


You will have excellent understanding of Auckland Council’s governance structure and the organisation and be tertiary qualified in a relevant field. Ideally we would like you to have 10 years’ experience in a senior role, in a high complex organisation.


Other key skills we are looking for are good interpersonal skills with the ability to build productive relationships, analytical, critical evaluation and conceptual thinking skills, sound judgement, excellent written and oral communication skills, and proven skills and experience in working under pressure and meeting deadlines.
