He angitūtanga: The opportunity
Auckland Council’s Property Department has an opportunity for a Programme Manager – High Landslide Hazard Sites within the Storm Affected Land (SAL) team.
This fixed-term full-time role through to 29 January 2027 will lead and manage a complex programme of approximately 250 High Landslide Hazard (HLH) sites purchased by council due to intolerable risk to life. You’ll play a critical role in shaping future land use outcomes while ensuring council meets its ownership, safety and stakeholder obligations.
Working across a wide range of internal and external stakeholders, you’ll lead programme delivery, oversee investigations and feasibility assessments, manage consultants and contractors, and provide strategic advice and reporting to support decision-making.

Day-to-day you could expect to work on:
- Leading the delivery of the High Landslide Hazard sites programme across Auckland
- Managing consultants, contractors and multidisciplinary programme teams to deliver key outcomes
- Conducting feasibility assessments and preparing recommendations for future land use decisions
- Building strong collaborative relationships with homeowners, elected members, council teams and external stakeholders
- Monitoring programme risks, budgets, timelines and reporting requirements to support effective delivery
He kōrero mōu: About you
This role requires significant experience leading complex programmes or projects, with a sound understanding of project management, stakeholder engagement and property, infrastructure or recovery-related environments.
We are looking for someone with:
- A tertiary qualification in a relevant field
- At least 12 years’ experience in project management, programme delivery or local government environments
- Strong experience managing complex, high-volume programmes involving multiple stakeholders and competing priorities
- Excellent relationship management, communication and report writing skills, with the ability to navigate sensitive situations professionally and empathetically
- Practical or commercial experience within construction, property, housing or infrastructure environments would be highly advantageous
- Strong planning, organisational and financial management capability, including risk identification and mitigation
