After the devastating storms of early 2023, the Auckland Council-led Tāmaki Makaurau Recovery Office is coordinating the repair and rebuild efforts of our region, on behalf of the Auckland Council group, New Zealand government, and community partners and stakeholders.

 

We are currently looking for a fixed-term, full-time Programme Manager, Complex Sites until June 2026. This role will manage complex and freehold sites with intolerable risk to life that have been purchased by the Council (Category 3), through to a decision on future use. This includes


•    Cross-lease properties
•    Potential High Hazard sites
•    Unit titles
•    Buildings/properties with heritage-related requirements
•    Properties where there is a known local or iwi interest in the building
•    Properties where there is redevelopment opportunity (before house removal).   


You will work with other council teams to ensure properties are made safe or removed. You will ensure the Council fulfils its responsibilities to the owners, revenue is generated from sites where risk can be managed, and stakeholder interests is managed effectively, fairly and transparently.

We are looking for an experienced and highly skilled programme manager to lead this piece of work. You will have high self-awareness to make sound judgments and take accountability for the complex and dynamic work programme. 

 

To be successful you will think strategically, have strong relationship management and the ability to lead and set direction.

 

Our ideal candidate will have an understanding of the land development, infrastructure, social and natural environmental issues challenges relating to Recovery.

 

We are specifically looking for:
•    Practical and commercial experience in construction, property or housing with a strong and demonstrable business acumen.
•    Extensive experience working with large and complex projects; potentially in a political environment
•    Financial, risk and contract management experience are required
•    Driven, outcomes focused programme manager who thrives in a challenging and dynamic setting
