You will play a key role in the Chief Sustainability Office, managing programmes that enable transformational change and support Auckland’s climate commitments and implementation of  Te Tāruke-ā-Tāwhiri: Auckland’s Climate Plan. You will support the Chief Sustainability Officer and other team members by engaging widely and working collaboratively with both internal and external key stakeholders and partners across diverse areas including the natural environment, water, infrastructure, urban development and governance.

He kōrero mōu: About you

A strong verbal and written communicator, collaborator and influencer, you have the proven ability to develop and maintain successful and enduring relationships in complex and political environments.

You can naturally walk the fine line of influencing and driving outcomes with your stakeholders while maintaining and enhancing positive relationships.

Ngā āhuatanga kei a mātou: What we offer

Auckland is a rapidly growing region. This growth brings huge opportunity, but also many challenges to ensure that growth is sustainable and resilient to the impacts of a changing climate. In response to these challenges and opportunities, the region has established a vision of Auckland for the future through the Auckland Plan and set bold aspirations for climate action, through Te Tāruke-ā-Tāwhiri: Auckland’s Climate Plan, including halving regional emissions by 2030 and reaching net zero emissions by 2050. Auckland is also an active member of key leadership networks such as the global C40 Cities Leadership Group and New Zealand’s Climate Leaders Coalition. Ensuring the region is strategically aligned to deliver on these sustainability commitments is the key focus for the Chief Sustainability Office.

You’ll have the opportunity to work across the organisation to ensure that all projects are making measurable progress and exceeding the targets while significantly increasing commitment and leadership.

In return, you’ll be immersed in a team of remarkable and talented professionals who work flexibly and who have a passion for climate action, their community and who love making a difference in helping create a sustainable and resilient Auckland.  Join us and leave your legacy on Auckland!
