Auckland Council’s Governance Capability team has an opportunity for a fixed term full time Programme Lead to run our Quality Advice Programme for 18 months. This role is based in the Auckland city centre with the flexibility to work from home or a Council hub.
Reporting to the Governance Capability Manager, this role is critical for building capability amongst staff to offer high-quality advice for decision-makers. The programme aims to ensure our decision-makers are presented with the best advice, at the right time and in the right way to help them fulfil their decision-making responsibilities.
You could expect to work on:
• Leading the design, development, delivery and evaluation of the Quality Advice Programme
• Engaging across the organisation to ensure our advice meets our quality advice standards, and that we continue to strive to improve our advice.
• Lead projects that help achieve the goals and objectives of the programme using levers including learning & development, staff guidance & tools, communication, engagement and performance assessment.

Essential to this role is your ability to translate complex information into sound well-educated advice easily understood by a variety of people.
We are looking for someone with experience leading a change or business improvement programme; using your influence to achieve positive outcomes.
We are specifically looking for:
• Strong experience in a policy or advisory role
• Excellent understanding of political organisations; both large and complex
• A tertiary qualification in Public Policy, Economics, Law, Planning, Business or equivalent industry experience
