He angitūtanga: The opportunity
Auckland Council’s Auckland Urban Development Office has an opportunity for a Programme Coordinator within the Infrastructure Investment and Phasing team.
This is not your typical project coordination role. Rather than supporting a single project, you will play a key role in enabling the wider programme; helping to connect teams, streamline processes, and improve how we engage with Auckland’s development community.
You’ll work closely with Programme Managers and stakeholders across council to support programme delivery, strengthen systems and processes, and ensure high-quality coordination across multiple initiatives. This is a role where curiosity, initiative, and a drive to improve how things work will set you apart.
Day-to-day you could expect to work on:
- Supporting programme-wide coordination, planning, and reporting activities
- Developing and improving processes, templates, and programme administration practices
- Assisting with procurement, systems support, and onboarding of new team members
- Mapping and documenting business processes and identifying opportunities for improvement
- Collaborating across council teams to ensure consistent, high-quality programme delivery
- Supporting financial and administrative processes such as purchase orders and programme tracking
- Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives and policy/procedure development
He kōrero mōu: About you
This role requires proven experience in programme coordination, business support, or similar roles, with the ability to operate effectively in complex, multi-stakeholder environments with minimal supervision.
We’re looking for someone who brings both capability and ownership, with demonstrated experience in:
- Coordinating programme or business operations across multiple stakeholders, with a track record of delivering outcomes independently
- Managing procurement and financial processes (including purchase orders) with accuracy and minimal oversight
- Designing, documenting, and improving business processes, with evidence of identifying gaps and implementing practical improvements
- Maintaining high-quality programme reporting, documentation, and records, using tools such as MS Office, SharePoint or MS Project
- A proactive, self-directed mindset—someone who identifies opportunities, communicates ideas confidently, and takes ownership through to delivery
You’ll be someone who can step into the role and add value quickly—comfortable navigating ambiguity, building relationships, and improving how the team operates without needing close guidance.
