Mt Roskill Library is launching a Community Hub on March 1st. The Hub will be a lively, much loved place where the community comes together to connect, create and celebrate. We’re looking for a Programme Coordinator with a genuine passion for community to help support the day to day operation and performance of our centre.


Working closely with community partners, hirers and colleagues, you’ll help create and deliver a high quality programme of activities that responds to local needs and priorities. You’ll support effective community practice, contribute to planning and evaluation, and ensure The Mt Roskill Community Hub remains a safe, welcoming and vibrant space for all who walk through our doors.

The Mt Roskill Community Hub will be a place of connection - shaped by the community, for the community. Our team works closely together as a whānau, sharing responsibility, supporting one another and celebrating success together. We value open communication, respect, and a hands on, can do approach. Everyone pitches in, looks out for each other, and keeps the community at the centre of what we do.


Ngā kawenga matua: Key responsibilities


•    Assist to identify, develop, promote and deliver programmes and services that respond to local community needs and align with Auckland Plan and Local Board outcomes.
•    Support strategic direction for centre activities and contribute to business planning, evaluation and reporting.
•    Build and sustain collaborative relationships with customers, community groups, service providers and key stakeholders, including migrant and new settler communities.
•    Work with leadership to identify emerging community needs and support community development opportunities.
•    Ensure all visitors and hirers are welcomed, informed and supported, including understanding their health, safety and security responsibilities.
•    Support administration, bookings, financial processes and reporting in line with Auckland Council requirements.
•    Handle correspondence and complaints in a professional and timely manner, escalating issues when required.
•    Demonstrate Auckland Council behaviours, including a strong commitment to inclusivity, adaptability, health and safety and te reo Māori me ōna tikanga.

He kōrero mōu: About you


You’re a people focused coordinator who believes in the power of community. You bring:


•    Proven experience working alongside communities to develop or deliver programmes, events or activities.
•    Strong relationship management skills and the ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups.
•    Sound problem solving and decision making skills, using good professional judgement.
•    Enthusiasm, creativity and initiative, with confidence juggling competing priorities.
•    Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
•    Cultural awareness and comfort working with people from diverse social, economic and ethnic backgrounds.
•    A sound understanding of tangata whenua and Te Tiriti o Waitangi, and the ability to use basic te reo Māori in everyday communication.
•    A relevant certificate qualification in the arts, social or community sector, or equivalent experience.
•    At least two years’ experience in an arts, culture or community development environment.
•    A current NZ driver’s licence or another practical way to travel across the region.
•    Flexible in working days, hours. This role requires working a weekend day each week.
