Are you a communications expert with a strategic mindset, adept at building strong relationships and navigating complex transformations? Join our Group Shared Services division as the Programme Communications Lead for our HRIS & Payroll transformation project.
This role has been created to lead communications across the project encompassing the Council group, external stakeholders, unions, and internal project teams. The Programme Communications Lead will be instrumental in the success of this complex organisational transformation by developing and implementing a comprehensive communication strategy for the project.
Please note that this is fixed term opportunity until March 2026.
Some key responsibilities will include:
- Define, develop, and execute a comprehensive communication and engagement strategy for the project.
- Create and manage targeted communication plans for internal and external stakeholders, ensuring clear and impactful messaging.
- Act as an expert advisor to leadership on communication matters.
- Develop internal communication materials and maintain strong relations with centralised communications teams.
- Manage external communications with partners, vendors, and the public, including press releases and public-facing materials.
- Track the effectiveness of communication strategies and prepare regular reports for senior management.

He kōrero mōu: About you
You have excellent written and verbal communication skills and can craft clear and compelling messages. Previous experience in managing communications for large-scale transformations is a must as well as a high level of proficiency in communication tools and platforms, including content management systems.
You thrive in dynamic environments, can handle ambiguity and change, and are adept at managing sensitive information and complex organisational dynamics. Personal resilience is important, maintaining energy and positivity whilst working under pressure.
We will also be looking for the following qualifications and experience:
- Tertiary qualification, preferably in business, communications or public relations
- A minimum of 10 years experience in a similar communications role within a large complex setting
