He angitūtanga: The opportunity 
Panuku is a team of experienced urban development professionals leading town centre revitalisation, by working with communities, Iwi and stakeholders, and facilitating housing and commercial development, public realm projects and placemaking.  The Strategy and Planning Directorate is responsible for the planning for town centres and strategic sites including statutory planning and consenting processes, and leading corporate responsibility, business planning, policy implementation, for Panuku.


As a Principal Planner, you’ll lead on an extensive range of planning and Resource Management Act (RMA) related tasks, relevant to Panuku’s areas of ownership and influence. This role is largely project based, with specific focus on the delivery of statutory, resource management and planning advice to stakeholders, as well as delivery of Project Plans and Master Plans including the management and leadership of resource consent applications. He kōrero mōu: About you
You bring with you at least 8-10 years of experience. Your background may include working in a planning consultancy, other public/private sector organisations, or within a council. You are well known for your strong knowledge and experience in sustainability, environmental issues, urban design, resource management and development. You would have developed good negotiation skills leading medium to large scale development projects through the statutory process (Council hearing or Environment Court experience is desirable). A planning degree or post-graduate qualification in planning is required, while additional graduate or post-graduate qualifications in a related field (e.g. urban design, property valuation, surveying, law) is desirable. It is expected you have full membership with the NZPI or are eligible for full membership.
