He angitūtanga: The Opportunity
Join Auckland Council’s Animal Management team as a Principal Investigations Specialist, leading complex investigations under the Dog Control Act 1996, Crimes Act 1961, and Local Government Act. This pivotal role involves managing serious dog control offences, providing operational guidance and training to frontline officers, and collaborating closely with Legal Services and senior management.
This is a permanent full-time term role, working 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Location 135 Albert Street, Auckland CBD.
He kōrero mōu: About You
We are seeking a seasoned investigator with a minimum of 5 years' experience in law enforcement, as a qualified Detective or similar. Your expertise in investigative best practices, legislation, and case management will be crucial in leading high-stakes investigations and ensuring compliance with legal standards. A current, full clean NZ driver’s licence is required.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage investigations into serious dog control offences, ensuring adherence to legal and organisational standards.
- Provide operational guidance and training to frontline staff, enhancing their investigative skills and knowledge.
- Collaborate with Legal Services to evaluate case files, prepare reports, and support successful prosecutions.

Salary ranges from $102,595 and $120,700 plus KiwiSaver and benefits.
