He angitūtanga: The opportunity
Te Kaunihera o Tāmaki Makaurau has a fantastic opportunity for a Principal Advisor Māori Outcomes. Lead the integration of Māori outcomes across the Engineering, Assets and Technical Advisory (EATA) department. Facilitate, plan, and deliver projects that support Māori aspirations, build staff capability to engage effectively with Māori, and ensure our organisation is Treaty-responsive. Nga Kawenga Matua: Key Responsibilities
Some of your key responsibilities will include:
- leading the development and management of the Achieving Māori Outcomes Plan for the EATA department, including quarterly reporting
- providing strategic and specialist advice to embed mātauranga Māori approaches into EATA’s programmes and projects
- partnering with and mentoring engineering and environmental specialists to deliver Māori outcomes alongside natural environmental improvements
- developing and managing a programme of work to build EATA staff capability to deliver Māori outcomes
- representing the EATA department at the Mana Whenua Kaitiaki forum.

He kōrero mōu: About you
You have worked in similar roles within local or central government, an NGO or perhaps a hapū/iwi organisation. Your background demonstrates your ability to incorporate Te Ao Māori perspectives into strategic frameworks and delivery plans.
You have used your deep understanding of Te Ao Māori, Te Tiriti o Waitangi and Mātauranga Māori to provide advice to senior leaders.
The success of this role relies on your excellent communication skills and your ability to foster relationships across key audiences in a collaborative and constructive manner, including Iwi, Mana Whenua, Mātāwaka, elected members and other stakeholders.
