As part of the Auckland Council Group, you'll be joining Group Shared Services (GSS) as a Performance Lead, where you’ll play an important part in turning data into direction. This role is focused on monitoring, analysing and reporting on directorate performance to generate clear, accurate and actionable insights that support confident decision-making. You’ll identify trends, risks and opportunities, strengthen accountability for results, and help shape how the directorate plans, prioritises and improves the services it delivers.
Working closely with leaders and teams across Group Shared Services, you’ll act as a trusted advisor — translating complex performance information into meaningful recommendations that keep attention on the right priorities. You’ll also build strong relationships to ensure consistent data quality and shared understanding of expectations, while championing an evidence-based, insight-driven culture of continuous improvement across the directorate.

You’ll be comfortable working with data in all its forms — extracting meaning, identifying patterns, challenging assumptions and connecting the dots to reveal what really matters. Just as importantly, you’ll be able to communicate those insights in a way that is concise, compelling and tailored to different audiences, from operational teams to senior leaders.
You'll be collaborative, building trusted relationships that support high-quality data, shared understanding and accountability for results. With experience operating in complex organisational environments, you’ll bring the confidence to provide evidence-based advice, shape decision-making and help drive tangible service improvement.
Ideally, you'll bring:
- Strong analytical capability with the ability to translate complex data into clear, actionable insights
- Critical thinking and problem-solving skills grounded in evidence and structured analysis
- Experience developing performance reports, dashboards or intelligence products for varied audiences
- Excellent written and verbal communication, able to distil complexity into a compelling narrative
- Ability to influence decisions through insight-led recommendations
- Strong stakeholder management skills and experience working across multiple teams to deliver consistent, accurate performance reporting
If this sounds like the perfect role for you, but you don’t quite match all the stated job requirements, please tell us in your own words how your skills or competences would support the team.
