At Auckland Council, our people are at the heart of everything we do. As a People Partner in our People, Safety and Wellbeing department, you’ll be part of a dynamic, portfolio-based team that works closely with business leaders to deliver strategic and operational support. You’ll play a pivotal role in aligning people strategies with business goals, enhancing the employee experience, and driving positive outcomes for our people and communities across Tāmaki Makaurau.


This is a 12-month fixed term opportunity to bring your HR expertise to a role where your work directly influences leadership capability, employee experiences, and the broader culture within Auckland Council.
 

Key responsibilities will include:
•    Act as a trusted partner to achieve people-related goals for assigned portfolios.
•    Enhance employee and leader experiences within the business portfolios.
•    Use data and insights to identify trends and recommend solutions.
•    Develop leadership skills and team effectiveness through talent and succession planning.
•    Implement change programs in line with Council’s design principles.

You bring a solid background as an HR Business Partner, with the confidence and capability to influence at both strategic and operational levels. You’re known for your ability to provide courageous, constructive feedback when needed, helping to drive positive change and growth across the organisation. 
 
You have a strong understanding of New Zealand employment legislation and case law, and you’re comfortable using data and insights to address workforce challenges and guide decision-making.  What sets you apart is your ability to build trusted relationships with business leaders, unions, and colleagues, helping to influence key decisions and outcomes. You’re resilient, adaptable, and commercially savvy, with a focus on delivering results. Experience in Agile HR Practices is advantageous, and you thrive in collaborative, fast-moving environments.
