He angitūtanga: The opportunity
We have an exciting opportunity for a Partnerships Specialist to join our Customer and Community Services directorate to manage, grow and develop a range of partnerships across our community portfolio. This includes leveraging partnership to influence positive outcomes across arts, events, parks, libraries and sport and recreation.
This will be a chance to bring to bear your strategic expertise and collaboration skills, as you identify opportunities and solve problems through innovative co-investment approaches to benefit our communities.
You’ll be managing multiple projects with overlapping timeframes and project owners, so will enjoy relationship management – which will include with government agencies, mana whenua, council-controlled organisations, and community groups that are aligned to achieving an increase in Aucklanders feeling of belonging and participation.
You’ll also support and demonstrate best practice in partnership establishment including risk management, process guidance and governance to ensure partnership approaches are core to the way we work across our directorate.

This role requires in-depth knowledge of identifying opportunities and solving problems through partnerships and confidence in seeking out and approaching new partners.
You’ll be able to build strong, positive relationships in a dynamic and complex environment, and you’ll be well experienced in building partnerships to achieve shared outcomes. An innovative thinker, you’ll be solutions focussed with a natural drive to deliver exceptional results. To be successful in this role, you’ll have:
- A customer focussed approach to building rapport and maintaining relationships
- Negotiation and contract management skills
- A collaborative working style, with exceptional interpersonal skills
- Ability to think commercially and plan strategically
- Proven experience in managing partnerships and projects
