Auckland Art Gallery Toi o Tāmaki is a cultural leader in Aotearoa New Zealand. We strengthen and enrich our communities through art and ideas. We offer inspiring art experiences that engage and challenge diverse audiences through our extensive collection of New Zealand art and international art, as well as presenting a dynamic programme of temporary exhibitions, public engagement and outreach activities.

 

We are looking for dynamic and outgoing individuals to work as Gallery Assistants in our Visitor Experience team. Gallery Assistants play a key role in providing interpretation of artworks to enrich the experience of our manuhiri, and to help facilitate the preventative care/ safety of artworks and exhibitions.

You must have proven experience in delivering excellent manaakitanga and have a strong interest in art. To succeed in this role, you will love sharing your enthusiasm for art with others, thrive on working as part of a team and enjoy the environment of the Auckland Art Gallery Toi o Tāmaki.

 

To secure one of these highly sought-after roles you ideally:

  • Have proven front line customer service experience or have relevant gallery/ museum experience.
  • Have a strong interest in the arts or hold an art qualification / be studying towards an art qualification

 

Ngā āhuatanga kei a mātou: What we offer

We have a Part Time variable position available. The role will start in late June/early July.

 

This Part Time position has fixed Friday-Saturday days (16 hours), with at least one additional day of availability required per week.

 

Please note that the Gallery operates 7 days a week and is regularly open for evening events as well as standard daytime hours. Availability on weekends and evenings is particularly desirable.
