He angitūtanga: The opportunity

Auckland Council’s Local Boards has an opportunity for a PA/Office Manager to join the Maungakiekie-Tāmaki Local Board support team. This role will report to the Local Area Manager and will be based in our Panmure office.

Local boards make local decisions on behalf of their communities.  They provide leadership and engage with the public on a broad range of community and regional issues.  This is critical for decision-making for the delivery of council’s activities such as libraries, pools and recreation centres, sports fields, local environment initiatives, town centres, community events, grants and other community facilities.

You will provide dedicated PA support to the local board chair and support local board members with constituent services for the community. You will also provide office management support to the local board support team and, occasionally, PA support to the Local Area Manager.

People who demonstrate flexibility to work across the council family and with our community partners, who are involved in a variety of initiatives, will enjoy this role.

You can expect to work on:

  • providing comprehensive office management support such as procurement and purchasing, room bookings, stationery management and security requirements
  • managing the logistics for community engagement and local board run events
  • providing timely responses to residents, community groups and external organisations

He kōrero mōu: About you

This role requires experience in similar administration support, office management or personal assistant roles that have provided you with the ability to juggle and prioritise tasks.  You have experience in similar roles within large, complex or political organisations.

You are well-presented and personable, demonstrating a level of confidence and determination to keep the wheels moving, while remaining unwaveringly calm under pressure.

We will be looking for specific experience with the key role requirements:

  • high level professional secretarial, administrative and coordination services
  • experience in interacting and building relationships with a wide range of people, including with elected members, senior managers, and members of the public
  • excellent political acumen or awareness

We still encourage you to apply if you have some but not all these requirements.
