We are currently looking for an Organisational Design Lead to join our Group Shared Services (GSS) division, to design an end-to-end organisational design workstream.
This fixed-term role until December 2025 offers you an opportunity to design and recommend future-state organisation structures for a shared services People team that is aligned with Workday system capabilities.
We are also open to contractors if a fixed-term contract is not preferred.
Day-to-day you could expect to work on:
- Leading the organisational design workstream for the HRIS and Payroll implementation project.
- Partnering with the Programme team and GSS leaders to develop a future-state operating model.
- Designing future-state organisational structures, roles, responsibilities, and capability requirements.
- Conducting impact assessments and supporting change management planning.
- Facilitating co-design workshops and engagement sessions with leaders, staff, and key stakeholders.
- Ensuring compliance with Council policies, collective agreements, and employment legislation.
- Monitoring risks and interdependencies related to the organisational design stream.

You are a seasoned professional with proven experience in organisational design and operating model transformation in large, complex organisations. Familiarity with Auckland Council structures and processes would be an added benefit.
Your strategic thinking and collaborative skills empower you to lead transformative initiatives seamlessly.
You excel in dynamic environments, showcasing change agility, a customer-centric mindset, and integrity. Your excellent communication and facilitation skills, combined with your deep understanding of service delivery models, make you a valuable asset to any team.
We will be looking for the following specific qualifications and experience:
- Proven experience, ideally around 9-10 years, in organisational design and/or operating model transformation.
- Organisational design certification or relevant tertiary qualification.
- Deep understanding of service delivery models, preferably within a shared services context; experience with HR and Payroll is preferred.
- Knowledge of employment relations and employer obligations under ERA 2000 in New Zealand.
