He angitūtanga: The opportunity

As Operations Lead, you’ll play a key role in shaping how Auckland Council’s new Transport & Infrastructure directorate operates, performs, and continuously improves. You’ll provide strategic leadership across business performance, planning, integration and transformation. This will bring together people, processes, and insights to improve outcomes for Aucklanders.

You’ll lead an integrated work programme, drive opportunities to improve efficiency, customer experience and return on investment, and establish directorate-wide performance, reporting and assurance frameworks. You’ll also shape capability development through learning, development and competency frameworks, helping build a high-performing and agile directorate ready to respond to Auckland’s changing transport and infrastructure needs. 

He kōrero mōu: About you

We’re looking for an experienced governance professional who brings strategic thinking, sound judgement and a pragmatic approach to complex challenges. You’ll be confident navigating ambiguity, identifying opportunities for improvement and working with others to turn ideas into practical solutions.

Strong relationship and facilitation skills will be essential, along with the political awareness and resilience to work effectively across a diverse range of stakeholders. You’ll be an excellent communicator, highly organised and outcome focused, with experience leading complex, multi-stakeholder projects in a public sector environment and the ability to quickly understand and explain complex governance arrangements.

Indicative salary range - $130K – $145K
