Marketing & Communications Manager – Fixed Term (12 Months)

 

Join us in connecting Aucklanders and visitors to unforgettable performing arts experiences.

 

We’re looking for a strategic and creative communicator to lead marketing and publicity campaigns for Auckland Live’s programme — including Aotea Square, Te Komititanga, and performing arts spaces and venues across the city centre.

 

In this role, you will:

 

  • Lead and deliver integrated marketing and communications plans that elevate live performance in Tāmaki Makaurau.
  • Support activations in venues, public spaces, festivals, and city-wide events that surprise, inspire, and connect.
  • Drive campaigns that boost ticket sales, grow attendance, and energise local businesses.
  • Promote experiences that reflect Te Ao Māori and the diversity of our communities.
  • Be part of a passionate team showcasing Auckland as a world-class cultural destination.

 

He angitūtanga: The opportunity

 

Tātaki Auckland Unlimited (TAU) is Auckland’s cultural, events, and destination agency. Through Auckland Live, we activate public spaces and venues with live experiences that shape the city’s identity and connect communities. This role primarily supports the Performing Arts rōpū, with potential to contribute to other city centre activations.

You’ll design and deliver strategic campaigns across paid, earned, and partner channels - collaborating with presenters, and internal teams to amplify Auckland’s cultural impact.

You’re a confident, strategic marketer with a passion for the performing arts and a deep understanding of how marketing drives engagement and impact. You’re digitally savvy, publicity-minded, and skilled at connecting with diverse audiences. 

You thrive in fast-paced environments, know how to prioritise and adapt, and collaborate with empathy. You’re comfortable influencing across teams, stakeholders, and communities to deliver meaningful results.

 

You’ll bring:

 

  • A relevant tertiary qualification and/or 7+ years’ experience in marketing, publicity, or communications.
  • Proven ability to deliver integrated campaigns with a strong digital and analytics focus.
  • Excellent project planning, financial management, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Confidence using digital platforms, creative tools, and collaboration software (e.g. Asana, Teams).
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and multitasking abilities.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, or public holidays as needed.

 

Ngā āhuatanga kei a mātou: What we offer

 

The salary range for this role is $115,000 - $130,000k per annum, based on skillset and experience. (Band H)
