Company: Auckland Council

•    Deliver meaningful engagement across diverse Auckland communities
•    Fixed-term opportunity with variety, autonomy and impact

He angitūtanga: The opportunity

We're looking for an experienced marketing professional to join our team on a 12-month fixed-term contract.

As Marketing Specialist, you'll help deliver integrated marketing activity that engages Aucklanders and supports key organisational priorities. Working closely with your team and stakeholders across the business, you'll develop and implement campaigns that explain and promote the myriad services, events and information that council provides to Aucklanders.

This role is ideal for a marketer who enjoys combining creativity with customer insights and data to deliver impactful outcomes. You'll play an important role in helping grow our capability in data-led marketing, bringing fresh thinking around audience segmentation, campaign measurement, optimisation and demonstrating marketing value.

Operating within a busy team of four and supported by a wider group of marketers, you'll partner with a wide range of stakeholders to deliver effective marketing outcomes that are inclusive, customer-focused and aligned to organisational objectives.

Day-to-day you could expect to:

•    Partner with internal stakeholders, agencies and subject matter experts to deliver impactful marketing initiatives
•    Take briefs for marketing campaigns and manage the asset production process
•    Use customer insights, audience data and campaign results to inform marketing decisions and optimise performance
•    Monitor, evaluate and report on campaign effectiveness, identifying opportunities to improve outcomes and value
•    Help build best-practice capability in data-driven marketing across the wider team

He kōrero mōu: About you

You'll be a confident marketing professional with experience delivering successful campaigns in a complex organisational environment. You're comfortable working in a team, balancing multiple priorities, building strong stakeholder relationships and translating insights into practical marketing solutions.

You're naturally curious about customer behaviour and campaign performance, and you enjoy using data to understand what's working and where improvements can be made. While you don't need to be a specialist analyst, you'll bring a strong appreciation for evidence-based marketing and be keen to help lift capability in this space.

Experience working within local government, the public sector, highly regulated industries, or complex organisations will be advantageous. You'll also bring an appreciation for engaging diverse communities and audiences, with experience working alongside Māori, Pasifika, ethnic communities or other minority population groups.

You’ll also have:

•    3+ years experience in a marketing, campaign management or communications role
•    Strong understanding of integrated marketing principles and campaign delivery
•    Experience using marketing data, customer insights or performance reporting to support decision making and continuous improvement
•    Well-developed stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills
•    Excellent planning, organisational and project management capabilities
•    Tertiary qualification in marketing, communications or a related discipline
