He angitūtanga: The opportunity 
Auckland Council has an exciting opportunity for a Marina Crew - Dockmaster to join the team at Westhaven Marina! You will be joining a team that has lots of knowledge to share. 
 
The key purpose of this role is to provide a friendly, safe and secure environment for customers and users of the marina, 24 hours 7 days a week. It is a customer-focused role and requires a positive and flexible attitude to maintain Westhaven Marina’s position as a premier marina facility and welcoming place for the community, visitors and berth users.

•    This is an on-site position
 

Day-to-day you could expect to work on:

  • Being the first point of contact for marina customers
  • Answering customer enquiries and process berth bookings
  • Meet & greet arriving boats
  • Assist with dock (mooring) lines
  • Ensure proper power and water connections for arriving boats
  • Inform customers on facilities (sewage, rubbish disposal, etc) and local amenities

He kōrero mōu: About you
This role requires experience in similar customer service roles where you have been the front-of-house or first point of contact. Knowledge of boating/marina’s/etc is advantageous, but the team is very open to training the right person!  
You will need to be physically fit and comfortable working outside. You might walk up to 7kms per day around the Marina. 
 
We will be looking for specific experience with:

  • Resolving complaints/escalations
  • Moderate IT skills

 

You will need the flexibility to work a range of shifts. We work on 5 days on, 3 days off roster. Shifts are:

  • 6am-3pm
  • 1-10pm
  • 9.30pm-6.30am

 

Please note:
All Dockmasters are expected to participate in a night shift rotation. While this schedule will be partly based on individual preferences, details will be discussed during the interview with the team leader.
