Group Shared Services (GSS) is a centralised function within the Auckland Council Group that delivers high-quality, cost-effective services by integrating common functions, removing duplication, and creating a consistent, scalable service model across Auckland Council, Auckland Transport, Tātaki Auckland Unlimited and Watercare. By streamlining operations and leveraging shared expertise, GSS plays a pivotal role in delivering better value for Aucklanders. 

  

We’re looking for an experienced people leader, with strategic vision, to manage the overall purchasing and contract responsibilities for Group Shared Services (GSS) procurement activity.  This is a senior role that is responsible for key functions of the procurement lifecycle that have high customer and supplier impact.  In this role, you’ll oversee purchasing and contract teams that partner with business units and other Procurement teams across the Council group, ensuring our customers and suppliers experience a seamless, efficient, and customer-focused service. With a focus on collaboration, Māori outcomes, and continuous improvement, you’ll be able to shape how we deliver purchasing and contract support for GSS.

He kōrero mōu: About you 

  

You will be an experienced leader with a proven track record in leading high-performing teams and delivering value-for-money outcomes in complex, high-volume environments. Ideally you will have experience with SAP, procurement, category management and/or purchasing and contract systems and processes. 

Confident in building strong relationships at all levels, you bring exceptional interpersonal skills, commercial acumen, and a customer-first mindset. You are committed to continuous improvement, open to new ways of working, and have the curiosity and adaptability to embrace change. 

ability to integrate te reo Māori and tikanga into your work, reflects your commitment to cultural responsiveness and inclusive practice. 

  

In addition, we are looking for: 

  

  • A relevant tertiary qualification or CIPS Certification 

  • Minimum 5 years’ leadership experience in procurement, purchasing, or contract management

 (Band I) Indicative range $130 – 150k, experience and skillset dependant
