He angitūtanga: The opportunity

 

Auckland Council’s Treasury team has an opportunity for a Manager, Debt Capital Markets to join the Funds unit.

This is a critical role supporting the Group Treasury function for both Auckland Council and Watercare, focusing on treasury risk management, funding strategy, liquidity, sustainable finance, and market engagement.

 

You could expect to work on:

  • Managing treasury-related risks including interest rate, refinancing, funding, liquidity, FX, counterparty, and operational risks
  • Delivering funding and debt capital market programmes for Council and Watercare
  • Maintaining effective, best-practice processes that meet treasury policy requirements
  • Supporting internal and external stakeholders with treasury strategy, reporting, and analysis
  • Monitoring financial markets and leading treasury transactions under delegated authority

 

He kōrero mōu: About you

 

This role requires experience in the treasury, financial markets, and debt capital markets space. You will have experience in similar roles within large, complex, and potentially political organisations.

 

We will be looking for specific experience with the key role requirements:

  • In-depth knowledge of debt capital markets, including sustainable finance and hedging
  • Strong financial and investment management capability, including financial modelling
  • Ability to build trust and work collaboratively across senior stakeholder groups
  • Excellent analytical and critical thinking capability
  • Experience managing workloads and leading small teams
