Are you a dynamic leader with a passion for libraries, technology and operational excellence?  Auckland Council Libraries is looking for a skilled and experienced manager to lead and shape its regional collection services and solutions. This includes oversight of a large distribution operation for the movement of physical items, innovative software solutions, contract and supplier management, and delivery of technical services, including acquisitions and cataloguing. 

We are seeking a strategic library leader with a passion for developing services that make a real difference to people’s lives, and the drive and enthusiasm to lead specialist teams, delivering core library services, across our diverse city.

Auckland Council Libraries is the largest public library system in Australasia. Our collections include multiple formats, extensive e-collections, online databases and a large back catalogue.  With over 16 million print and e-issues in the past 12 months, we continue to look for ways to ensure Aucklanders receive excellent services and value for money.

 

He kōrero mōu: About you 

You have a proven ability to work strategically and operationally.  A customer-centric approach drives your decision-making.  You promote a culture of continuous improvement, exercise sound judgment in evaluating and pursing innovative ideas and have the leadership skills to bring teams and stakeholders along with you. 

In addition to your tertiary degree in library and information management, you will have:

  • At least 10 years’ experience in collection services in a large library system
  • Experience in procurement, supplier negotiations and contract management
  • Ability to set, articulate and lead strong, future-focussed direction
  • A highly organised approach to managing multiple projects and demands
  • Proven ability to successfully manage stakeholder relationships
  • Ability to demonstrate sound judgment, excellent communication skills, & a high level of digital literacy
  • Management experience within a complex organisational framework
  • Dedication to equal opportunity and partnership with Māori as per Te Tiriti o Waitangi

Band I - Salary range: $130-145K dependant on experience
