He angitūtanga | The opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity for a 2-year fixed-term Māori Outcomes Capability and Change Enablement Lead to focus on strengthening cultural capability and advancing Māori outcomes across the organisation. The successful person will design, coordinate, and deliver Māori cultural programmes for leaders, teams and staff, supporting them to learn and understand cultural practices that can be applied into their daily work programmes. We are looking for someone to build confidence, understanding, and capability that supports authentic and sustainable change that leads to enduring cultural competency and understanding. The role will also work closely with Māori staff supporting their development, strengthening Māori leadership, and embedding Māori outcomes across organisational practice.

As Māori Outcomes Capability and Change Enablement Lead you will:

• Lead the design and delivery of learning pathways that help all TAU staff embed Māori practices into operations, visitor experiences and daily work programmes.
• Support leaders and teams to build cultural confidence, make meaningful changes that advance Māori outcomes that contributes and celebrates Māori culture and identity.
• Apply adult learning principles, responsive pedagogy, digital tools, and new technologies to create engaging, accessible, and practical learning programmes that meet staff cultural needs and growth.
• Strengthen Māori leadership and connection by supporting Māori staff, provide coaching and mentoring opportunities to ensure alignment with wider Māori Outcomes initiatives.
• You will also be a thought partner for the Head of Māori Partnerships & Enablement.

He kōrero mōu: About you

We’re looking for someone with strong experience in adult learning, facilitation, coaching, and enablement, with the ability to design, deliver practical learning programmes that shift behaviour and grow cultural capability. You’ll bring confidence in learning design, innovation, using responsive approaches, digital tools, engaging content to create programmes that are accessible, scalable, and meaningful. The person will also have excellent communication skills, able to build relationships, have experience in programme management, along with cultural competency and confident working with mana whenua, mātāwaka, and partners.

Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako: Skills and experience:

• A degree in education, mātauranga Māori, research, organisational development, adult education and competency in te reo, is desirable or the equivalent lived experience.
• Understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
• Minimum 2–6 years designing, facilitating, and delivering adult learning, cultural capability, or organisational change programmes in diverse environments, with demonstrated success delivering measurable shifts in culture, behaviour, or capability.
• Proven experience in mentoring, coaching, and project management, including the ability to deliver initiatives on time, within scope, and to budget.
• Experience working in partnership with mana whenua, mātāwaka, Māori communities, partners, stakeholders, and diverse teams.
