Here at Auckland Council, our leisure centres play a key role in achieving our goal to get Auckland the most active city in the world. And right now, we’re looking for Learn to Swim Instructors to join our team in Tepid Baths to help achieve that goal!


This is a fantastic job where you don’t need any formal qualifications or experience – just a passion to work with our diverse community and make a difference!


He kōrero mōu: About you


If you do have a recognised swim teacher qualification or previous experience as a swimming instructor, that’s great – but if you don’t that’s fine too as we’ll provide all of the training you need to do the job! You’ll need to complete your first aid certificate, have a love of water, a commitment to exceptional customer service and an ability to communicate well with adults and children.

As a Learn to Swim Instructor, you’ll enjoy free use facilities, flexible working hours that fit in with your life and a fun working environment. And to top it off, you’ll have the satisfaction of knowing the work you do is important, and you’ll enjoy the satisfaction of watching someone gain the confidence that comes from learning how to swim.


Part-time working minimum 2 hours per week during term time opportunities are available. You should be able to work at least two days from Saturday to Thursday from 3:30 pm onwards.
