Our Healthy Waters & Flood Resilience department is looking for a Lead Advisor to join the Growth & Development team.

 


In this role you will play a crucial role in transforming stormwater management practices across Tāmaki Makaurau. You will work closely with the land development community and internal stakeholders to champion best practices in integrating sustainable and efficient stormwater management systems throughout the land development lifecycle. 

 


From Plan Changes to vested assets and ongoing operation and maintenance, your expertise will help shape a greener, more resilient Auckland.

Day-to-day you could expect to:

  • Collaborate with council, agencies, and the private sector to coordinate stormwater infrastructure delivery and funding
  • Represent Auckland Council at RMA Hearings as a stormwater expert
  • Provide expert witness testimony in legal processes related to stormwater and development
  • Conduct technical analysis to attribute project costs to development contributions or growth levies
  • Lead Council's involvement in significant land development projects
  • Mentor team members on stormwater management and its integration with other Council goals
  • Drive continuous improvement within the department and support a culture of ongoing enhancement

He kōrero mōu: About you 

 


You are a proven leader with the ability to work in high-performing, delivery-focused teams. Your industry-recognized expertise in stormwater management and land development, including stormwater modelling and contaminant removal, sets you apart. 

 


You possess a strong knowledge of asset management practices around vested land and assets, and you are proficient in contract management. Your excellent rapport and communication skills enable you to effectively engage with stakeholders, while your strong interpersonal skills help you to motivate and collaborate with the team. 

 


Additionally, you have significant land development experience with a primary focus on stormwater management, and your strong negotiation skills ensure successful outcomes in complex situations.

 


We will be looking for the following specific qualifications and experience:

  • A bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Civil and/or Environmental)
  • Membership of a relevant professional body or working towards full membership of a relevant professional body
  • 20+ years of experience in infrastructure design, planning, and strategy
  • Proven stormwater leadership in a senior role
