Parks & Community Facilities (PCF) is dedicated to making great places Aucklander’s love by supporting several related services such as asset maintenance, management and renewals of Parks, Open Spaces, Buildings, Facilities, Conservation Areas and Urban Ngahere (forest). As kaitiaki (guardian) of Auckland Council facilities, we play a vital role in promoting the wellbeing of our communities and environment while also delivering strategically significant programmes.
As a Land Use Advisor, you’ll be part of the team that provides advisory services to both other council departments and external customers in relation to asset and land use.
You’ll assess enquiries and applications for works and other activities on council owned land, and provide expert land use advice to staff and local boards.
Key responsibilities include:
- Providing advice and assistance to other teams within the council, external stakeholder groups and the general public on matters relating to council owned land and assets – or impacts of activities on council owned land
- Leading the assessment of requests and approvals such as landowner and affected party approvals
- Providing research and advice in relation to the Reserves Act, Public Works Act processes and the Local Government Act – as they pertain to requests and approvals
He kōrero mōu: About you
A tertiary qualification in an area such as; parks, sports and recreation management, resource management, legal, property, geography, environmental science or landscape architecture will come with you, alongside some experience working with the Resource Management Act, Reserves Act, Local Government Act or Public Works Act.
With strong interpersonal and negotiation skills you’ll be able to effectively build constructive relationships when differing perspectives and needs exist, and you’ll have excellent written and oral communication skills.
