Auckland Council’s Healthy Waters & Flood Resilience department is seeking a Healthy Waters Specialist – Regional Operations Engineer to join our Regional Operations Team.
This is a dynamic role focused on delivering high-quality, cost-effective, and innovative stormwater and three waters solutions. You’ll be part of a collaborative team driving operational excellence, championing technology innovation, and supporting environmental outcomes across Tāmaki Makaurau.
Day-to-day you could expect to:
- Manage regional operational contracts and ensure contractor performance.
- Support the Minor Capex programme and small water supply/wastewater team.
- Organise trials and implement smart tools for operational response.
- Apply best practice and innovation in three waters infrastructure.
- Ensure robust financial, health and safety, and risk management.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders.
- Contribute to continuous improvement and new initiatives.
- Support customer satisfaction and respond to service requests.

You are a technically skilled and customer-focused engineer with a passion for innovation and environmental outcomes.
You thrive in collaborative environments, communicate effectively, and bring strong project management and stakeholder engagement skills. You’re adaptable, proactive, and committed to delivering high-quality results.
We will be looking for the following specific qualifications and experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil and/or Environmental Engineering or equivalent
- Project or contract management qualifications or equivalent experience
- Membership or working towards membership of a relevant professional body
- 3+ years’ experience in three waters or infrastructure sector
- Ability to work independently and in cross-functional teams
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other software applications
