He angitūtanga: The opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Health & Wellbeing Business Partner to lead and strengthen our approach to injury prevention, return to work, and proactive wellbeing across Tātaki Auckland Unlimited. This specialist role sits within our Safety, health and wellbeing team and plays a critical part in improving how we prevent harm, support recovery, and build healthier, more resilient workplaces. You will work closely with leaders, SHW Business Partners, and People & Culture to reduce musculoskeletal injuries, strengthen manual task risk management, improve return-to-work outcomes, and embed wellbeing as a core organisational priority.This is a role for someone who understands the connection between safe work design, early intervention, and overall workforce wellbeing — and who can translate that understanding into practical, sustainable improvements across diverse operational environments including events, venues and property.

Key Responsibilities:

• Leading initiatives to reduce musculoskeletal injuries and manual task risks across operational areas.
• Strengthening early intervention and return-to-work processes to improve recovery outcomes and reduce lost time.
• Partnering with leaders, ACC and healthcare providers to ensure coordinated and effective rehabilitation pathways.
• Designing and embedding practical injury prevention, ergonomic and manual handling frameworks.
• Supporting the identification and management of psychosocial and health-related risks
• Monitoring health and injury trends to inform targeted prevention and wellbeing strategies.
  Building leadership capability to proactively manage health, recovery and wellbeing in their teams.

You are a practical and proactive health professional who understands both prevention and recovery in operational environments. You bring experience in injury prevention, return-to-work coordination and broader wellbeing initiatives, and you are confident influencing leaders and building capability across teams.You are comfortable working in dynamic environments and can balance data-driven insight with real-world pragmatism. You are motivated by improving both performance and people outcomes.

To be successful in this role, candidates will ideally bring:

• A tertiary qualification in occupational health, physiotherapy, rehabilitation, safety, ergonomics or a related discipline.
• Experience in injury prevention, manual handling risk management and return-to-work processes.
• Knowledge of ACC systems and rehabilitation pathways.
• Experience implementing workplace wellbeing initiatives or supporting psychosocial risk management.
• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills across diverse operational environments.
