He angitūtanga: The opportunity

 

Auckland Council’s Health, Safety and Wellbeing department has an opportunity for a Health, Safety and Wellbeing Programme Manager. 

 

As the largest council in Aotearoa, our kaimahi work in many locations and deliver a wide range of services across many diverse communities. By putting our kaimahi first in all that we do, we want to ensure that all our team members feel and are safe at work.

 

This is a critical leadership role for council and will focus on driving and achieving strategic objectives for our kaimahi and Tāmaki Makaurau.

 

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • ensuring that our significant work programme maintains our high standards of excellence in Health, Safety and Wellbeing
  • supporting the HSW team in planning, monitoring, reporting and coordinating work programmes
  • overseeing the delivery of tailor-made systems, frameworks, and tools
  • using your HSW knowledge, with expertise in project management, to accelerate and streamline the delivery of our strategic objectives

 

Reporting to the Head of Health, Safety and Wellbeing, and as a member of the leadership team, you will join highly skilled health, safety and wellbeing experts.

With a keen strategic mindset and the expertise to create and execute initiatives, you possess the skills essential for enhancing health and safety performance.

 

To guide you further, our ideal candidate would have the following:

 

  • a tertiary qualification in health and safety, risk management or similar professional qualification
  • strong experience in health, safety, or wellbeing within a large public sector, corporate, industrial or construction environment
  • experience in delivering effective work programmes within large, complex and diverse organisations
